About the Foundation

A Brighter Tomorrow for Africa is a charitable foundation established under the 501(c)(3) section of the US tax code. Its initial purpose is to improve the lives of women and children in the West Coast country of Sierra Leone through financial support of small, community-based organizations . These organizations provide food, clothing, medical services, counseling and education to children; raise the potential of Sierra Leone women through education and skills training and combat corruption through information and public education. The foundation’s objective is to have an immediate impact on the lives of the women and children supported by these organizations.

 Why Sierra Leone?

Sierra Leone has just emerged from more than a decade of one of the bloodiest and most destructive civil wars ever experienced on the African continent.  Rebels from both inside and outside the country viciously killed, raped, and mutilated tens of thousands of men, women and childrenThe aftermath is visible everywhere - poverty, disease, broken men, scarred and traumatized women and children, a destroyed economy - a reversal  of human development. The needs of this poor country far outweigh the aid which is currently being provided .
